One of the oldest and most respected girls' schools in the state capital, St. Joseph Convent Idgah Hills walked away with the first prize in the Girls' Brass Band Category at the inter-school band competition held under the aegis of the District Education Office.
The school band, mentored by Rasik Nagar Pandey, was adjudged the best at the competition held at the TT Nagar Stadium.
The win registers the fighting spirit of the school band, which has moved up several notches to attain victory this year.
The band is led by Zaina Azam Khan, who conducts the band and signals the change in instruments and tunes.
The band's performance is a result of the unstinting efforts of assistant teachers Alka Gupta, Durgesh Pandey, Ravdeep Singh Malhari, Bhumika Singh, and NCC officer Amandeep Kaur.
Today, the school's band group is once again moving towards the peak of victory.
The audience becomes emotional upon hearing the melodious tunes of the band.
The band had recently been awarded a cash prize of Rs. 100,000 by Governor Lalji Tandon, who was moved by the enthusiastic and flawless performance of the group.
On this occasion, to encourage the children, the school manager Sister Francis Joseph, Principal Sister Lily, Vice Principal Sister Stania, Sports Teacher Vishnu Kant Sahay, Kirti Goswami, and all the teachers of the school family expressed their happiness and congratulated them.
