Led by Zone 3 DCP Riyaz Iqbal, a major campaign has been launched to take effective action against goons, vigilantes, and miscreants in Bhopal. The initiative focuses on curbing crime by targeting habitual criminals and tightening the noose on offenders.
On December 23, 2024, DCP Riyaz Iqbal ordered a crackdown on active miscreants under surveillance. In response, all police station in-charges in Zone-03 formed teams to conduct thorough checks across the area.
The teams focused on locations such as Nadra Bus Stand, DIG Bungalow, Bhopal Talkies Square, Lalghati Square, Kamala Park, and near Shahjahani Park, among others.
During the operation, a total of 452 vehicles were checked, resulting in 40 drivers being fined under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Teams also targeted habitual criminals, checking 99 goons and 51 monitored miscreants. Legal action was swiftly taken against those involved in criminal activities.
The checks resulted in recovery of illegal drugs, arms, and liquor. In total, illegal liquor worth Rs. 15,000 was confiscated under the Excise Act, and action was taken under the Arms Act (5 cases) and NDPS Act (1 case).
The campaign also involved executing warrants and taking preventive actions against criminals.
This effective initiative has been widely appreciated by law-abiding citizens for its role in dismantling criminal networks and restoring safety in the city.
