Dr. A.P. Krishna, professor, BIT Mesra; Dr. Komal Kumari, BIT, Sindri spoke on the fifth day of the workshop on Applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in Research being held at BIT Sindri.
Dr. A.P. Krishna, Professor, BIT Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand, his topics were "Advanced tools and techniques of remote sensing and GIS" and "Remote sensing research application and advantages." In his lecture, Dr. Krishna provided an overview of advanced remote sensing and GIS technologies. He discussed the use of multispectral and hyperspectral imaging for detailed earth surface analysis, as well as the benefits of drone-based data collection for small-scale, cost-effective projects. He highlighted the importance of LiDAR and SAR in accurate geographic and structural mapping. Dr. Krishna also covered GIS software like ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and Erdas Imagine, which are essential for analysing large datasets in fields such as groundwater management, urban planning, and biodiversity conservation.
While addressing session , Dr. Komal Kumari, BIT Sindri, conducted a practical session on the application of RS and GIS in water resources management.Welcoming guests address, Dr. Kujur extended a heartfelt and sincere greeting to both the guest speaker and the attendees, infusing the room with a sense of genuine warmth. With a gracious tone, Dr. Kujur expressed deep appreciation for everyone’s presence, emphasising the importance of the gathering and the wealth of knowledge set to unfold.
The workshop witnessed active participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students of BIT Sindri, along with students from other institutions. The success of the event is credited to the efforts of Prof. (Dr.) Udai Kumar Singh, Prof. Prafulla Kumar Sharma, Dr. Maya Rajnarayan Ray, Dr. Nishikant Kisku, Prof. Saroj Meena, and Prof. Prashant Ranjan Malviya.
