Dr SC Dubey, Vice Chancellor of Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) has been nominated as a member of the general body and governing body of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Society, New Delhi.
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Arjun Munda is the president of the general body of the Society while ICAR Director General Dr Himanshu Pathak heads the ICAR governing body. Five vice chancellors of the country's agricultural universities are nominated as members of the Society. Meeting of the General Body is held once a year while the Governing Body meets every quarter.
ICAR, set up in 1929, is an apex organization at national level for promoting science and technology programmes in agricultural research and education.
Dr Dubey with 35 years of experience in teaching, research, project management and administration, took over as BAU Vice Chancellor in January this year. Prior to that, he was working at ICAR headquarters, New Delhi as Assistant Director General (Plant Protection & Biosafety).
