In the wake of negligence of the team of the Public Works Department notices were issued after PWD minister Rakesh Singh took strict action.

The notices have been issued on the negligence of the team of the Public Works Department formed to make the roads of the state pothole-free. Show cause notices were issued to 11 executive engineers and 8 contractors of PWD after the repair work of the roads was not done in 7 days.

A 15-day comprehensive campaign was run by the Public Works Department in the state from August  7 to 22 to fill the potholes caused by rain. Through this campaign, the condition of the roads of the state was to be inspected and the work of their repair was to be expedited.

To verify the campaign, the department had instructed the superintending engineer level officers to inspect the roads on the spot in different districts from 9 to 15 September. Its report was given to the department on 18 September.

During the inspection campaign, a team of 15 superintending engineers conducted a surprise inspection of 10645 kilometers of roads in the state on a random basis. A total of 1362 potholes were identified in this while the upper surface of asphalt of 57 km roads was found damaged.

Apart from this, 8.80 km long roads got damaged due to lack of drainage. Under the campaign, repair work of identified potholes and roads was done in 7 days.

According to the department, 3705 complaints were registered on Lokpath App as on 30 September, out of which 3570 complaints have been resolved. The resolution of the remaining 135 complaints is still under process, which will be resolved in 7 days.

During the inspection, show cause notices have been issued to 11 executive officers of those areas in the divisions where more potholes were found on the roads. The executive officers who have received notices are posted in these districts.

Show cause notice has been issued to the contractors involved in the construction of roads under performance guarantee. The names of the contractors who were given notice are- Shapers Construction Limited Bhopal,-RK Jain Infra Projects Pvt Ltd, Laxmi Narayan Agarwal, Jagdish Prasad Bansal, Sarman India Bhopal, Utsuk Core Developers, M/s Vijay Singh Rewa and SC Jain Construction Company.
