The accused who raped and killed 5-year-old girl in Shahjehanabad area was presented in the court on Friday and he was sent to jail. The police would investigate involvement of the accused in human traffiking.
Before his arrest, the accused fell while trying to escape and suffered a serious injury in one of his legs. The police have searched the accused's flat once again. From where, the lowers, undergarments and a shirt worn by him at the time of the incident were seized.
The police will once again search his flat to seize other items. The accused's mother Basanti and sister Chanchal have been sent to jail. People with whom the accused met would be identified and questioned and were they aware of the crime would also be investigated in the further probe. Did the accused inform anyone else about the incident? The police will also recreate the incident.
The accused told the police during interrogation that due to fogging, people had closed the gates of their flats. Usually the area is crowded. On Tuesday afternoon, the girl was seen alone in the verandah due to smoke. Seeing this opportunity,he pulled the girl inside the flat. At this time, his mother and sister had gone to work and he molested the girl inside the flat. When the health of the innocent deteriorated, he got scared, first he gagged her mouth and later strangled her.
On Tuesday afternoon, when the mother of the accused returned from work, he told the whole incident to his mother. When the mother came, the mother also informed the sister about the matter. Before he could dispose of the body, he started searching for the girl in the building. In a short while, the police arrived. Due to this, he did not get a chance to dispose of the body.
On the intervening night of Tuesday, the body was tied in a cloth and kept in the water tank. His mother had told him to do so. Later, there was a plan to dispose of the body along with the water tank. But the police did not leave the spot. Police force remained deployed all around the multi.
Police said that information has been received about the accused's mother Basanti Bhalase kidnapping a child in the past. However, the case is quite old. Police are also questioning her in this case regarding human trafficking. People living nearby in the multi have described the behaviour of Basanti and her daughter Chanchal as suspicious. Different kinds of people also used to visit their house. Police also suspect that the accused are also involved in a sex racket.
