Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital organises a painting competition on World Sight Day

Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital organized Inter school-collegiate students painting competition on the subject of eye care awareness on the occasion of World Sight Day today. These paintings on the theme "Love your eyes", were dipicted on the walls of new hospital building which is under construction at Airport Road, Gandhi Nagar. This competition was jointly organized by INGO CBM and Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital. As many as 107 students from 14 schools and colleges participated in the painting competition.

Out of them, 24 groups of those students were formed, who created 24 paintings on the parts of the outer wall of the hospital in the last two days, increasing awareness about eye care. Bhopal CMHO, Dr Prabhakar Tiwari was the chief guest while State Program Officer for Blindness Control, Dr. Anshul Upadhyay presided over the function at the program organized on concluding ceremony of the competition. They both viewed the paintings of the students.

On this occasion, Dr. Prerna Upadhyay, Dr. Rashmi Apte of Sewa Sadan, Managing Trustee A.C. Sadhwani, Trustees Hero Gyanchandani, Rajkumar Mulchandani, Suresh Awatramani, Sant Sewak L.C. Janiyani, Dr. Hemant Sinha, P.S. Rathore, Kushal Dharmani, Manoj Dhawadiya and Bharti Janiyani were also present. In the beginning, Dr. Prabhakar and Dr. Anshul saw the paintings which were sketched and painted by the students in last 2 days. In this competition, the team of BSS College was awarded the first prize of Rs 5000, Mithi Gobindram Public School was awarded the second prize of Rs 3500 and Navnidh School was awarded third prize of Rs 2500.

Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari said that the students have made good paintings. He congratulated Students of all the institutions. Dr. Tiwari said that Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital is rendering remarkable services in the prevention of controllable blindness.

He said that the imagination of the students in controlling blindness is worth appreciable. Students have adequate knowledge of eye care at an early age, they will definitely increase awareness in the society.

Dr Anshul Upadhyaya said that great importance is given to the words of children in the family. Due to change in lifestyle in the society and increased use of mobile, TV, laptop, tablet and electronic gadgets, people's screen time has increased a lot, which has started bad effect on their vision. Dr. Anshul congratulated all the students and the winning teams for making excellent paintings. Dr. Rashmi Apte said that due to increased screen time on electronic gadgets, dryness and itching in the eyes of even young children has started. If this is the case, they should consult an eye specialist without wasting time.

Dr Rashmi said that it is safer to watch TV or laptop instead of watching on mobile.

She said that after thirty minutes of screen time, it is necessary to give thirty seconds of rest to the eyes. Increasing screen time can cause near sightedness (myopia) at an early age. In the beginning, AC Sadhwani welcomed the guests and said that the theme of this year's World Sight Day event has been kept as "Love your Eyes-children". The guests were honored with Shawl and mementoes. The program was conducted by Ms. Bharti Janiyani while P.S. Rathore proposed vote of thanks.
