SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) began the calendar year 2024 with a record monthly performance in January. Continuing the success spree with which it had ended the year 2023, the Steel Plant marched ahead to register the best ever monthly crude steel production in the first month of the Year. The total Crude Steel production during the month from both the Steel Melting Shops was 3,78,227 tonnes which was the best performance of the Plant for any month since inception. The Steel Melting Shops – II made a commendable contribution in this record by producing 3,37,009 tonnes of crude Steel thereby improving on its earlier best performance of 3,28,663 tonnes registered in March 2023. By making 2,58,493 tonnes of Hot Metal, Blast Furnace-5 registered its Best Month performance thereby surpassing the earlier record of 2,57,765 tonnes made in March 2023.
On 1st February, 2024 Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, RSP with Additional Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant visited the Blast Furnace-5 and Steel Melting Shops II to congratulate the department collective as well as their associated units. He was accompanied by S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works), Tarun Misra, ED (P&A) with Additional Charge of ED(Projects), Alok Verma, ED (Mines), A K Behuria, ED (F&A) and many other CGMs and Senior Officers of RSP.
The Director In-Charge commended the collective for the record-breaking performance and emphasized upon maintaining consistency and ensuring steadier performance in the entire production chain. He also urged all to make every possible effort to achieve high safety standards. . Bhowmick presented bouquets and sweets to the Blast Furnaces & SMS-II department collective for achieving the record. Notably the employees in turn assured the top management that they would continue to excel in the days to come and help RSP touch new peaks of success.
