On the instructions of Collector Ashish Singh, checking of vehicles was done to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Total Rs 1.23 lakh were collected as penalty under challan proceedings for violation of rules and a bus was seized.
Following the instructions given by Collector Ashish Singh, on tuesday surprise checking of vehicles was done jointly by RTO, District Administration and Traffic Police on various routes. During the checking, the vehicles' insurance, fitness, permit, registration, pollution certificate, driver's license, whether the driver-conductor is in uniform or not, overloading of passengers, etc. were checked. When the vehicles were found to be operating against the rules, challan action was taken against the vehicle operators for various crimes and a bus was confiscated when it was found to be operating without a permit. During the surprise checking of vehicles and challan proceedings, the SDM of the concerned area, Transport Department and Traffic Department staff were also present.
Regional Transport Officer Pradeep Sharma told that under the vehicle checking drive , challan action was taken against a total of 127 vehicles for various crimes and a penalty amount of Rs 1 lakh 23 thousand 900 was recovered. RTO Pradeep Sharma told that a bus MP41-P1891 was taking children from Ujjain to Grand Manchal picnic.
On checking, picnic permit was not found. The bus was seized for the crime of driving a vehicle without a permit. Enforcement action was taken against a total of 29 vehicles on Indore-Ujjain road. Similarly, 25 vehicles on Indore Khandwa-Burhanpur road, 15 vehicles on Indore-Dewas road, 26 vehicles on Indore, Mhow, Manpur, Khargone, Badwani, Sendhwa road, 13 vehicles on Indore-Harda-Hoshangabad road and Indore, action was taken on 19 vehicles on Jhabua, Alirajpur route.
