Ranchi police carried out a search at GD Goenka School in the city on Wednesday, where they uncovered Rs 1.14 crore in cash. The flying squad seized the money along with three bottles of illegal foreign liquor from a cupboard belonging to the school’s Deputy Principal.
Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha stated that the operation thwarted an attempt to use the money to influence votes in Ranchi. Both SSP Sinha and Deputy Commissioner Varun Ranjan shared details during a joint press conference.
Police also discovered two suspicious mobile phones at the scene. A case has been registered at the Namkum police station, although no arrests have been made so far.
