RGPV Vice Chancellor Sunil Kumar's resignation accepted

Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (RGPV), Prof. Sunil Kumar's resignation was accepted by Governor Mangubhai Patel on Thursday.

To make things smooth functioning along with this, Professor Rupam Gupta of Computer and Information Technology Department of RGPV has been made the in-charge Vice Chancellor.

Pro. Sunil Kumar had his second term as Vice Chancellor in RGPV. It was to be completed in June 2025.

It is noteworthy that after returning from leave on Wednesday, Vice Chancellor Prof Sunil after the meeting of professors from various departments in Sunil Kumar University, he went to Governor House and submitted his resignation to Governor Mangubhai Patel.

Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar had talked about a big scam in RGPV and said that Vice Chancellor Prof Sunil if had not stepped down, the government would remove him. An FIR has been registered in Gandhinagar police station against five including the Vice Chancellor under various sections including fraud. In such a situation, Prof. Sunil Kumar reached RGPV on Wednesday. He informed about his resignation to some professors and said that he will not come to this university again, but will do something so that the association with the university remains. After this he reached Governor House and submitted his resignation.

The then Registrar RS Rajput and Finance Controller Hrishikesh Verma are missing after the FIR was lodged in the matter of depositing Rs 19.48 crore of RGPV in a private account in the name of Flexi Fixed Deposit Account. The houses of both the officers have been locked for three days. This has been confirmed by a senior RGPV official.

Till the new Vice Chancellor is appointed, it was expected that Bhadauria would act as VC. He played an important role in exposing this scam in a short time and providing documents to the investigating committee. Presently, along with being the senior most professor of the university, he is also the director of UIT.

Registrar in-charge of RGPV, Dr. Mohan Sen, RGPV Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunil Kumar, the then Registrar Prof. FIR was lodged against RS Rajput, Finance Controller Hrishikesh Verma, then task head of RBL Bank Kumar Mayank and Dalit Sangh. RGPV deposited Rs 19.48 crore in private account

Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunil Kumar, then Registrar RS Rajput, Finance Controller Hrishikesh Verma are accused of depositing Rs 19.48 crore of RGPV in the private account of Kumar Mayank. The signatures of the Vice Chancellor, the then Registrar and the Finance Controller on the checks of this money deposited in the accounts of Kumar Mayank and Dalit Sangh have been found by the three-member committee investigating the matter.

After the embezzlement of crores of rupees in the university was exposed, the RGPV administration has frozen all its bank accounts. It especially has accounts of Axis Bank and Union Bank. No transaction can be done with these banks without the permission of RGPV administration. Only salary accounts have been kept active. In this entire game of corruption, transactions worth Rs 200 to 250 crore are under investigation. After the transfer of Rs 50 crore, illegal withdrawal of about Rs 20 crore has been revealed, and the remaining is being investigated.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-4 Malkit Singh said that they are collecting evidence against the accused in the case of transfer of Rs 19.48 crore of RGPV to a private account. The registrar in-charge of the university has named in the FIR the then registrar of the university RS Rajput, controller finance Hrishikesh Verma, vice chancellor Prof. Sunil Kumar, private account holder Kumar Mayank and Dalit Sangh of Sohagpur have been made accused. The investigation team is collecting evidence in relation to the allegations made against the concerned people in the FIR. The arrest of the accused in the investigation will be done on the basis of evidence found against them.
