Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Police, has apprehended two notorious shooters — Bikramjit alias Vicky and Punjab Singh — both implicated in separate high-profile murder cases in Punjab.
The arrests were made in Lucknow, where the two shooters were found hiding in a safe house reportedly arranged by foreign handlers, said Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday.
The duo, originally from Tarn Taran in Punjab, have extensive criminal records. Bikramjit alias Vicky has been involved in March 2024 murder of Gopi Chohla in Tarn Taran, while Punjab Singh is a primary suspect in the shocking daylight triple homicide of Dildeep Singh and his two relatives in Ferozepur, which occurred in September 2024. According to DGP Yadav, both men were sheltering in the same rented accommodation, a hideout that facilitated their evasion until this joint police operation.
Details of the Ferozepur triple murder case revealed that on September 3, around midday, Dildeep Singh, along with Anmolpreet Singh, Jaspreet Kaur, and two others, was ambushed near Gurdwara Shri Akalgarh Sahib in Ferozepur City. Six assailants opened fire, leading to the tragic deaths of Dildeep Singh, his sister Jaspreet Kaur, and Akashdeep Singh, while two others were injured. Within days of the attack, Punjab Police arrested six suspects on the Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Expressway in Maharashtra, but Punjab Singh, one of the masterminds, remained at large until now.
Both Vicky and Punjab Singh have significant criminal backgrounds. Vicky faces 12 charges, including murder, robbery, and offenses under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, while Punjab Singh has four charges related to murder, the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and even rape. Their arrest marked a major victory for the Punjab Police, who have been intensifying their crackdown on organized crime networks throughout the state.
AGTF officials, under the guidance of AIG Sandeep Goel, executed the operation based on human intelligence inputs that pinpointed the suspects’ whereabouts and vehicle details. Acting on this intelligence, DSP Bikramjit Brar and Inspector Pushwinder Singh, alongside UP Police, conducted a raid in Lucknow’s Indira Nagar area, successfully capturing the shooters. The vehicle used by the suspects, a white Hyundai Alcazar, was impounded as evidence, and authorities anticipate the recovery of weapons connected to both cases soon.
Sharing updates on the operation, ADGP AGTF Promod Ban praised the joint effort and swift coordination between Punjab and UP Police, underscoring the dedication to eliminating organized crime in Punjab.
DGP Yadav also tweeted, reaffirming the Punjab Police’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring Punjab’s safety. Both men will undergo further interrogation to reveal any additional connections and linkages with international crime networks.
