Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal organized a lecture under the Museum popular Lecture Series. Professor SN Chaudhary, Tagore Scholar of Manav Sangrahalaya Bhopal delivered a lecture on the topic of Cultural Prescription for Tribal Development on 1st July, 2024 at 04 pm.
Prof SN Chaudhary said about half of the total tribal population of the country lives in Central India. Till the emergence of non-tribal rule tribes managed their life with the help of culture constructed by themselves for centuries.
Local National resources helped them in this matter. And in turn culture helped to survive local resources with dignity. Tribes led their peaceful and autonomous life with the help of both nature and culture.
They developed social institutions in this environment. Some of the core characteristics of tribes like courageousness, honesty, tolerance, no inclination in accommodation of wealth, nature worship, communication life and ownership, Kinship based social system etc. were developed during those days. However, with the coming of the Muslim rule, Maratha rule and the British rule.
