Police have invoked the stringent Crime Control Act (CCA) against 21 dreaded goons. Out of the 645 registered firearm licence-holders within the district , 605 have surrendered their weapons following an appeal after announcement of the model code of conduct for the assembly election. The move is part of district police's multi-pronged actions ahead of the election.
In the last 14 days, various material like contraband substances, liquor, arms, weapons and dangerous substances, worth more than Rs 1.86 crores have been seized during pre-election anti-crime drives.
Garhwa SP Deepak Kumar Pandey said, "Police have invoked the stringent Crime Control Act (CCA) against 21 dreaded goons, while there are proposals for many others adding police launched anti-crime drives against goons in the respective areas, undertake operations to flush out anti-social elements from their areas, recover and seize arms and weapons apart from taking actions against illegal activities like gambling and liquor dens."
During 13 days drive police recovered three katta, three live bullets, three KG ID bomb, 1270 gram ganja (opium), 6505 liter illegal english wine, 95 liter bear, 321 liter country made wine, cash Rs.2,88900/ cash and other artical.
For maintain better law and order during assembly election police execute 238 non-bailable warrant, and action has been taken against 1938 people under 107 Criminal Procedure Code and out of these, 944 people have been bound down, SP informed.
Police also focused actions against top criminals, their gangs, and their activities. The top brass is also preparing an area-wise list of top criminals to act against them under various provisions.
Besides this six inter-State coordination meeting at the police officers of the I G lavel, SP lavel, SDPO level and thana incharge lavel held from the border districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh was held in the run up to Assembly elections.
