A first initiative to the launching of the PM JANMAN (Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Adivasi Nayaya Maha Abhiyan) was conducted at Hurmur hamlet of the particularly vulnerable tribal group.
An IEC (information, education and communication) camp was held on Saturday at Hurmur hamlet.
It was attended by the MP Vishnu Dayal Ram along with a battery of civil officials led by the DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan.
Palamu has 167 villages where are hamlets of the PVTG. Their number of households is 4,604.
The ministry of tribal affairs, government of India had asked for the IEC camp in such PVTG hamlet in the first phase.
The ministry of tribal affairs, government of India has shortlisted 101 districts in India including 3 only of Jharkhand for the first phase of the Nayaya Maha Abhiyan to the PVTG. The 3 districts of Jharkhand are Palamu, Gumla and Khunti.
The PM JANMAN aims at holistic approach to promote the welfare and well being of the PVTG as they live in isolation and are looked down upon as just a rudiment to the society.
As the PVTG has no vote value at all, no political party ever bothers for it.
There will be a hybrid approach to promote them as there will be central intervention as well as state involvement.
However the multi dollar question is - Will PVTG respond to the changes (read development)? This correspondent had the opportunity to speak to some of them who were very candid to say that they love to live in the way their ancestors lived.
The year 2024 will be a hectic year politically and more in Jharkhand where will take place 2 elections lok sabha and vidhan sabha and it will be interesting to see what packages for their rebuilding economically and socially are offered to the PVTG. End
