Piplani police arrest two absconders in religion conversion case

Piplani police have arrested two absconding accused who were promoting religious conversion, three women were arrested earlier by the police on Sunday.

During this, two of their companions managed to escape from the spot. On Wednesday, the police arrested both the absconding accused. Both are originally from Kerala. The police are busy interrogating them.

At the same time, the police investigation revealed that two of the three women arrested have themselves converted to Christianity. One woman converted only two months ago.

The woman told the businessman that she would give him Rs 20 lakh if he embrace their religion.

When asked, the women said that they are telling the goodness of their religion. Kokta resident Dhanveer Singh Thakur runs a parts shop in Shiv Nagar. He said that he was standing outside his shop on Sunday evening. Then he saw three women and two men explaining something to the people of the colony with pamphlets in their hands.

The complainant reached the women and started talking to them. When I asked them what they were doing here, the women told me that they were Christians and were telling people about the goodness of their religion. I asked them what is the benefit of adopting their religion.

Then one woman replied that they will be given Rs 20 lakh. One woman said that she herself converted two months ago... she has been given a good house to live in and cash money. Her children are being educated in a good school. They also told me that if I adopt their religion, my children will be given free education in a good missionary school.

After this, I kept listening to their conversation along with other business associates. Meanwhile, the police was called from the nearby Anand Nagar police post. After this, the three women were handed over to the police. While the two youths fled after seeing the police coming.

The police have registered a case on the complaint of Kokta resident Dhanveer Singh Thakur.

SI Santosh Raghuvanshi said that the police started the investigation as soon as the complaint was received. On verification on the spot, the allegations of the complainant were confirmed. Propaganda related pamphlets were found with the women. The names of the arrested women are Mary Vastwal, Mary Masiha and Suman Masiha. Two other accused Chandrabhan and Badaprasad managed to escape from there. Both were arrested on Wednesday.

The police have registered a case against all five people under the sections of the Religious Freedom Act. All the three accused women are nuns. Two of them are from Bhopal and one from Narmadapuram. Mary and Suman themselves had also informed about being converted during interrogation.

Pamphlets, religious books and literature like diaries have been seized from the possession of the women. The absconding accused are being searched. A case has been registered against all the five accused under the Religious Freedom Act. The three arrested women have been released on bail after giving them notice.
