Outsourced electricity employee dies of electrocution, negligence alleged

Negligence caused his death, claimed outsourced employees of electricity department after a 21-year-old outsourced youth died of electrocution and his body remained hanging for over half an hour at Raksha Bihar (Defense) Colony in Parwalia in the evening on Saturday.

A lineman who reached Raksha Bihar (Defense) Colony in Parwalia police station area of Bhopal on receiving information about a fault in the power line died of electrocution while he climbed to repair the fault. His body was hanging between the pole and the ladder around half an hours.

His co-workers brought him down and rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Police registered a case and started investigation.

According to the police, Pappu Meena of Jhapadiya village was an outsourced employee in the electricity department and was working as a lineman.

On receiving information about a fault, he had gone to Raksha Bihar Colony on Saturday evening with three other co-workers and while working on the pole, he got electrocuted from the 11 KB line. Due to this, he died on the spot.

Pappu's friend Pawan said that Pappu was made to climb the 11 KB line without any safety equipment to repair the power fault. He lost his life due to the negligence of the power company.

Meanwhile a 40-year-old woman sustained over 50 percent burns after she came in contact of high tension power line passing over the roof of the house at Karond on Sunday afternoon.

As a similar accident occurred at the same place 16 days ago locals angered by this created a ruckus and accused the officers of the power company of negligence.

Kiran Jatav of Ratan Colony came in contact with the high tension line. Vinod Johar of the area said that a bathroom is built on the roof of the house. The woman was bathing in it during which she met the accident.

Immediately she was first taken to Sai Hospital and then taken to Hamidia Hospital. Fire fighter Pankaj Yadav reached the spot with fire brigade and disconnected the power supply.

Kiran's husband Kailash Jatav is a vegetable seller.

Resident Vinod said, Kailash does not have a mobile due to which youth from the area went out in search for him. Kiran's both sons were present at the spot, who were terrified by the accident.

Before this, a big accident has also happened on 12 October. Makhan Sahu (35), Vipin Jatav (17), Dinesh Birja (21) and Rohan Jatav (21) were burnt after coming in contact with the high tension line. Religious programs were going on till late night in the Durga pandal due to Navami. During this time, the wire of the mic got damaged. To repair it, a youth climbed up through a pipe. A high tension power line was passing from here. The youth came in contact with it and got an electric shock. After this, 3 other youths also came in contact. Most of the bodies of the youth, including their hands, feet and mouth, were burnt.
