Ahead of the Assembly Election in the State, Haryana Police have launched 'Operation Aakraman-14' against criminals, anti-social elements, drug traffickers in all the districts of the State.
Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on Monday said that 1,431 teams comprising 6,584 police officers conducted synchronized raids across various locations. These efforts resulted in the registration of 454 FIRs and the arrest of 979 individuals.
A police spokesperson said that under the leadership of Superintendents of Police and Deputy Commissioners of Police, the teams began raids early on September 8, which continued into the evening. Multiple arrests were made in different areas. The police teams registered 32 FIRs under the Arms Act, recovering 26 pistols and arresting eight individuals. Under the NDPS Act, 25 FIRs were lodged, leading to the seizure of 39.244 kg of cannabis, 607 grams of heroin, and 450 grams of charas, with eight accused arrested in connection to these cases.
He said that during the operation, six most-wanted criminals were apprehended. In addition, police teams successfully captured four cyber criminals, 88 proclaimed offenders, and 109 bail jumpers. These individuals had been evading arrest in multiple cases. Furthermore, the special operation led to the arrest of 235 other individuals involved in various criminal activities.
The Spokesperson said the operation also focused on cracking down on illegal alcohol trade. Police registered 268 FIRs under the Excise Act, seizing 670 bottles of English liquor, 11,048 bottles of country-made liquor, 304 bottles of beer, and 2,272 liters of illicit liquor. A total of 136 people were arrested under the Excise Act. Additionally, 53 individuals were arrested under the Gambling Act, with Rs. 7,40,205 in cash seized from their possession.
