Occupational Therapy (OT) is a critical healthcare profession focused on enhancing the lives of individuals facing physical, mental, and emotional challenges. The primary goal of OT is to improve quality of life and help individuals regain independence and functional abilities. Every year on October 27, World Occupational Therapy Day is celebrated to highlight the significance of this essential service.
Dr. Lalit Narayan, Convener of the Delhi Branch of the All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (AIOTA), provided insights into the history, importance, and impact of occupational therapy. He emphasized that this field aims to empower people of all age groups based on their abilities, enabling active participation in daily activities.
Dr. Narayan explained that OT plays a crucial role in bringing renewed confidence and independence to the lives of those with physical and mental disabilities, offering them a chance to engage actively in society.
Dr. Neeraj Mishra, Co-Convener of AIOTA's Delhi Branch, also contributed to this perspective.
