Observers lay out ground rules in candidate meeting

Saturday, 02 November 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

In preparation for a free, fair, and transparent election process, a critical meeting was held at the Collectorate auditorium, involving the police observer, general observer, expenditure observer, and district election officer alongside candidates and their representatives. The Returning Officers (ROs) from key constituencies, including Baharagora, Potka, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur East, and Jamshedpur West, were also present.

The general observer emphasized the importance of adhering to the guidelines outlined in the candidate handbook and urged candidates to obtain timely permissions for campaign activities through the single-window system. He cautioned against unauthorized campaigning, voter enticement, and any practices violating the Model Code of Conduct.

The police observer highlighted the deployment of security forces to maintain election integrity and stressed the prohibition on spreading misinformation or creating false narratives. The expenditure observer briefed attendees on the guidelines related to campaign finances, expenses for rallies, publicity materials, and the use of the CVIGIL app and Suvidha portal for reporting and managing expenditures.
