Nothing for youth, farmers in Union Budget: AAP general secretary

Thursday, 25 July 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

AAP’s General Secretary (Organisation) and Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak on Wednesday claimed that the central government presented the Union Budget 2024 with a petty mindset and said that it has been very disappointing as it has neither paid attention to employment, nor does it provide anything for the youth and farmers.

“ The central government has also given step-motherly treatment to Delhi and Punjab in this budget,” Pathak said. He also gave information on the issues raised in the INDIA alliance meeting held in Delhi on Tuesday in which the issue of the meeting of NITI Aayog and the health of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also came up.

“In the INDIA alliance meeting, concern was also expressed about the health of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The health of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail, is continuously deteriorating,” the MP stated.

Slamming the budget, Pathak said that this budget of the government has no target. “If you have been running the government for 10 years, then you should have a roadmap. You should know which sector to promote. Today the unemployment rate has increased from 7.2 to 9 per cent. Your corporate profits have increased but employment has not increased,” he said, adding that while the government has forgot about the guarantee of MSP to farmers, they have reduced the fertilizer subsidy by 36 per cent.

He claimed that the Delhi government spends 25 per centof its budget on education, while the central government gives less than 2 per cent of its budget to the education sector. “You (BJP) want to keep the youth of the country illiterate. Delhi government gives 15 per cent of its budget to the health sector, while the central government gives less than 1 per cent of its budget to health,” he said.
