In a heart-wrenching road mishap near the Kanchi River in the Tamar police station area, three young men from Jamshedpur lost their lives, while two others sustained grievous injuries. The tragic accident occurred on Sunday afternoon along the busy Ranchi-Tata National Highway-33, when a speeding truck rammed into two motorcycles.

The deceased have been identified as Sumit Mishra (20), Pulkit Singh (18), and Nikhil Kumar (18), all residents of Bhuiyandih under the Sitaramdera police station area in Jamshedpur. The injured, Prince Kumar and Shubham Kumar, were initially rushed to the Tamar Community Health Center (CHC) for emergency care before being referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for advanced treatment. Among them, one is reported to be in critical condition.

According to eyewitnesses, the group of friends was on their way to Jonha Falls in Ranchi for a picnic when tragedy struck. As they neared the diversion at Kanchi River, a speeding truck collided with the two bikes, killing three riders on one motorcycle instantly. The two friends on the second bike suffered serious injuries.

The incident triggered outrage among local residents, who quickly gathered at the accident site. They blocked the highway for a short time, causing disruptions to traffic on NH-33. The protest was brought to a peaceful end within an hour following intervention by local administrative officials and assurances of action.

Tamar police station in-charge Roshan Kumar Jha confirmed that the families of the victims were informed immediately after the mishap. The police have seized the truck involved in the accident and are investigating the incident to determine further details, including whether negligence or overspeeding was a factor.

This tragic accident has left the Bhuiyandih neighborhood in Jamshedpur in mourning. The untimely loss of three young lives has also sparked concerns about the safety of NH-33, which has long been regarded as an accident-prone stretch.
