In an initiative to promote and support local artisans, the Chief General Manager (CGM) of NABARD (National Bank for Rural and Agriculture Development) Jharkhand RO has gifted exquisite hand-painted and handcrafted Tassar Silk ties from Godda to corporate heads across the country.
The ties adorned with intricate designs are a product of the Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) sanctioned by NABARD Jharkhand Regional Office to Ganesh Peace Foundation- an NGO working with tassar silk value chain stakeholders in the district of Godda in Jharkhand.
The program has empowered artisans to diversify their craft beyond the traditional Tasaar Sarees and has also enabled them to create a variety of market-driven products including sarees, stoles and ties. The LEDP initiative has played a pivotal role in building their capacities, improving product quality and it has also enhanced their income levels.
The intervention underscores NABARD’s commitment to rural development and also highlights the organisation’s role in preserving traditional crafts and enhancing the livelihood of artisans, fostering sustainable development and empowering local artisans. “By supporting their craftsmanship, we are not only preserving traditional arts but also contributing to their socio- economic upliftment,”said SK Jahagirdar, Chief General Manager NABARD Jharkhand RO.
The intervention will also help to introduce the artisans to new markets as well as provide them with the necessary skills and resources by significantly adding value to their craftsmanship. It will not only help artisans fetch better prices for their products but also ensure the sustainability of the traditional art.
Orders for these ties can be directly placed with the Ganesh Peace Foundation, Bhagaiyaa, Distt. Godda 813208 on the contact number 88733 03479.
