Medinirai Medical College Hospital is in for a makeover. Its principal Dr P N Mahto is against permissiveness. He wants boys and girls studying here to maintain a proper look in public instead of a boy or a girl in the street.
No boy or girl medico of the Medinirai Medical College Hospital will be free now to go out of the campus after sunset. This new regulation has come into effect days ahead of this outgoing year fearing large scale 'slip' of them on the eve of the New Year.
Principal of the MMCH Dr Prof P N Mahto speaking to this newspaper said "Our medical college boys and girls used to ride bikes and come as late as 10 at night to the campus. This is now strictly prohibited."
“The college management is not against boys and girls going out to buy essentials, but keeping late hours at night is not acceptable at all," said the Principal.
"What I have noticed is that the main rider wears helmet while the pillion rider mostly girls don't wear helmet and bandy words with the college security guards if asked not to go late in the evening and without helmet." added the principal.
"It's a zero tolerance for any act of indiscipline. Let the sanctity of this institution be kept intact," warned Dr Mahto.
On the faculty side too some stringent measures have been taken said the principal.
"I have written complaints about 3 or 4 such doctors of the MMCH Daltonganj who spend 90 per cent of their working hours in their private clinics or nursing homes they are attached to. This is a great crime against this noble profession," added the principal.
"We are verifying and inquiring about the complaints. Prima facie the complaints about these 3 or 4 doctors appear to be true but nonetheless there is a set rule to proceed against such errants," asserted the principal.
"How can it be tolerated that patients suffer in the government hospital while doctors mint money in their private clinics during the time they ought to be discharging their duties?" quipped the principal.
