Mega Placement Camp for Women on Sept 10 in Punjab

Saturday, 07 September 2024 | PNS | Chandigarh

Punjab is all set to witness a landmark event aimed at boosting women’s empowerment and economic self-reliance. On September 10, a special mega placement camp exclusively for women will be held at Malout in Sri Muktsar Sahib district. The initiative, led by the state’s Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, promises to open new avenues for women seeking to enter the workforce, offering them a chance to turn aspirations into achievements.

Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said that the camp will serve as a gateway for women who have completed their Class X, XII, graduation, or post-graduation to connect with reputed companies offering various job opportunities.

Organized in collaboration with the state’s Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Department, the camp marks a significant step towards bridging the gender gap in employment. The Minister highlighted that this event is just the beginning, as similar camps will be organized across all districts in the coming days.

The camp will also feature departments offering self-employment schemes, providing women with information on available loans and other resources to help them kickstart entrepreneurial ventures.

The Minister also urged women from all walks of life to participate actively in the camp and take advantage of this golden opportunity. To ensure widespread awareness, District Program Officers have been instructed to mobilize women in villages through Anganwadi centers, encouraging them to attend and explore their options.

Reiterating that Punjab Government is committed to improving women's economic status and securing their participation across diverse fields, the Minster said that these camps, aimed at skill-appropriate placements, are a pivotal part of the government’s efforts to uplift living standards and promote gender equality in the workforce.
