The Department of Mechanical Engineering and IEI Student Chapter at Medi-Caps University, in association with IIT Indore, are hosting a six-days Bootcamp on " Drones and Associated Technologies" during March 1-6, 2024. The inauguration of the bootcamp was done on March 1st , 2024.

The bootcamp was inaugurated by the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Medi-Caps University, Prof. (Dr.) Debendra Kumar Panda, and Dean Engineering, Prof. (Dr.) Pramod S Nair, along with esteemed guests including Dr. Vivek Kanhangad, Profesor and Head of Electrical Department, IIT Indore. The Registrar of Medi-Caps University, Prof. P. Siluvainathan, and the organizing secretaries of the event, Prof. Ram Bansal and Dr. Akbar Ali, were also present.

The inaugural day of the bootcamp was graced by the theory session delivered by Dr. Vivek Kanhangad. In his address, Dr. Vivek highlighted the fundamentals of drone operations and elaborated about Drone Image Analysis and Pattern Recognition.

In the hands-on training session, the components of a drone were explained and demonstration flight of a drone along with its controls was displayed.

The final session of the inaugural day was a theory and training session by Prof. Sudhir Kamle, IIT Indore on UAS (unmanned aircraft system) based RF Signal Detection and UAS based object detection in Images. Participants were able to gain practical knowledge of applying above concepts on drones. The inaugural day of the bootcamp was a big step towards newer trends in image processing, computer vision and drone mechanics, with participants from various engineering branches of the university attending and gaining valuable insights and knowledge. The concluding day of the bootcamp will be on March 06, 2024.
