Only bones and ashes of a married couple were found in their home in the Jatkhedi area of the state capital Thursday. Police suspect the two had immolated themselves.
Household goods lay scattered in the room where the two were discovered after neighbours informed the fire brigade of the fire that had apparently taken place on Wednesday night.
The couple was completely charred, and investigators had to collect the bones of the bodies in pieces of cloth to carry them for examination.The deceased have been identified as Satish Birade (26) and his wife Amrapali (24).Satish's parents, siblings, and other family members sell flowers in the Piplani area.
The two were married about three years ago but had no kids.The two had moved into the house after the husband built it before starting a family.On Thursday morning at around 5:30, neighbours alerted Satish's family after they noticed smoke emanating from the one-room tenement.
Police said that the fire had gutted all their belongings. Their charred remains were found inside the box bed on which the two were apparently sleeping.Satish had not been on talking terms with his family since a recent dispute.The police are trying to reconstruct the circumstances in which the gruesome incident took place. All possible angles are being investigated.
