The Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal jointly with the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun, inaugurated the 15th Six-day Mid-Career Training (MCT-IV) Management Module Programme for IFS officers on Monday. The programme witnessed the participation of 40 senior IFS officers from more than 25 States and UTs of the country.
The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. K. Ravichandran, Director, IIFM (Chief Guest); Manmohan Yadav, Dean, IIFM; Amit Kumar, Course Director, IGNFA; CP Kala, Programme Director & Chairperson (MDP), IIFM and Dr. Ujjal Kumar Sarma, CAO, IIFM.
In his Inaugural address, Ravichandran emphasized the need for a capacity building and training programme for IFS officers looking at the changing era of environment and Climate Change. The Mid-Career Training for IFS officers in phase four at IIFM is specifically focused on managerial skills. Ravichandran shed light on the Indian Forest & Wood Certification Scheme, underscoring the Government of India's initiative to promote and implement sustainable forest management practices, designating IIFM as the nodal agency. He said, "This scheme is not only confined to India, anticipating a widespread adoption in the future, the Indian Forest and Wood Certification scheme can be adopted by several other countries. With this India will globally demonstrate its leadership in sustainable wood and forest management."
This six-day training programme features sessions led by distinguished experts from esteemed organizations including IIM, IIPA, NIFM, etc,. covering essential topics such as, Conflict Resolution, Public Finance Management System, Protected Area Management and Voluntary Relocation of Villages, Team Building skills, Science of Positivity, Happiness for Leaders, LiFE-Lifestyle for Environment, Negotiation Skills, Human Ecology & Rural Environment, Finance Management, Digital Technologies and Resource Management, Stress Management & Positive Thinking, Negotiation Skills and Central Values of Governance & Accountability. The first day featured insightful sessions on Leadership by Prof. P. D Jose from IIM, Bengaluru, Competency-Based Personnel Management by Prof. Rekha Singhal, Dean, Sri Sri University and Project Management by Prof. B.P Pethiya, Ex-Director (IIFM) and Ex-VC (RNTU).
