A 60 year old man identified as Nandeo Sahu was intercepted on a tip off on Panki Balumath road last evening and police recovered counterfeit currency notes in the denomination of 500 rupees, worth 1,29, 500.

SP Reeshma Ramesan has confirmed the recovery of the counterfeit currency notes worth 1,29, 500 rupees.

She said there was a precise input on this man and our police made no mistake about it. The man with counterfeit currency notes was caught.

The man was carrying the counterfeit currency notes  in his pajama and was walking down alone when caught at night around 8pm last night.

He was booked under sections 179, 180 3(5) of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita 2024.

The man was remanded in judicial custody today in the CJM court  Daltonganj.

Ramesan said the man tried to hoodwink the police by spinning a story that a man in Ranchi gave him the cash asking him to keep it and once that man would reach here then this cash would change hands.

"It's simply disbelievable. The man tried to mislead the police." reiterated the SP.

The man is of Palamu having permanent residence in Tarhassi while his present address is under the Chainpur police station limits.

This is the first biggest recovery for the counterfeit currency notes in Palamu in the last 5 years.
