Acting swiftly after the video of a person urinating into the Upper Lake went viral on social media, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation tracked the man, slapped him with a 5k fine and moved an application at the local thana for stringent action.
The BMC response to the public misdemeanor will serve as an example and make people resist the urge to emulate the man, said a city resident.Soon after the video went viral, Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan took cognizance and instructed officials to take strict action.
The BMC team promptly located the owner of the vehicle, seen in the video. Though the vehicle owner claimed ignorance saying his vehicle was borrowed by another person, the BMC officials levied a spot fine of Rs 5000, and later filed an application at the Kohefiza police station.BMC officials are seeking strict action in the matter to refrain others from emulating the act as the lake is the primary source of water supply for a sizeable portion of the state capital.
