A Khalistani connection has emerged in the murder of 45-year-old Jaswant Singh Gill alias Soni Sardar on November 7 in Dabra town, Gwalior.
Punjab Police arrested two shooters—Anmolpreet Singh and Navjot Singh—who are linked to a Khalistani terrorist group. The shooters were nabbed from a guest house in Mohali.
The duo had used a Canadian driving licence to book the room, which led to their arrest.Jaswant was killed due to an old enmity. In 2016, he had murdered his wife’s cousin, Sukhwinder Singh, and injured his parents.
The retaliatory move was plotted by Sukhvinder's Canada-based brother Satpal, who hired the two killers for Rs 2.5 lakh.After killing Jaswant, the two had fled to Mohali, where they were arrested on November 9. Their accommodation was arranged by Satpal, who had transferred Rs 1 lakh to Harjeet, his cousin in Gwalior, to help coordinate the murder.
Harjeet also conducted a three-day recce of Jaswant’s house.
Satpal had booked the shooters into the guest house through Airbnb, under the name of Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu from Ontario, Canada. Police traced them through this booking, leading to their arrest.The shooters were also involved in the October 9 murder of Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh in Faridkot, ordered by Arshdeep Singh (Arsh Dalla), a notorious Khalistani terrorist based in Canada.
Arsh Dalla had provided weapons and logistics for the shooters. After murdering Gurpreet, they went into hiding and emerged to kill Jaswant Singh.Arsh Dalla, who is allegedly involved in promoting Khalistani terrorism, is wanted for ordering several killings, including that of Gurpreet Singh.
Both shooters are linked to Dalla’s terrorist network, which operates in both Canada and India. Dalla is also involved in extortion, terrorism, and other violent activities.
He is wanted for several crimes in Punjab.Gwalior police are now interrogating the shooters and working to track down Satpal, the main accused. Interpol is involved in pursuing his arrest through the India-Canada extradition treaty.
