The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha on Thursday released its first list of two candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. MLA Nalin Soren has been made the candidate from Dumka seat. In the 2019 polls party president Shibu Soren had contested from this seat, but he had to face defeat at the hands of BJP's Sunil Soren. This time BJP has made Shibu Soren's elder daughter-in-law Sita Soren its candidate from Dumka seat.
From the Giridih Lok Sabha seat JMM has fielded former minister and MLA Mathura Mahato, who will face AJSU Party candidate CP Chaudhary. Last time, JMM had fielded late Jagannath Mahato from this seat.
Notably, on Thursday morning, Chief Minister Champai Soren and Minister Basant Soren went to Birsa Munda Jail and met former Chief Minister and working president of the party Hemant Soren. After Hemant's consent, the names of both the candidates were announced in the afternoon.
It is likely that JMM will announce the names of candidates in the next few days after reaching a consensus on other seats. There is a tussle going on within the alliance on the seats of Dhanbad, Chaibasa, Palamu, Chatra, due to which Congress has announced its candidate on three seats and JMMA on only two seats.
Speculations were rife about Dumka seat that former Chief Minister Hemant Soren can contest elections from this seat this time, but after Sita Soren became the candidate from BJP, JMM decided not to give importance to the issue of conflict and disunity in the Soren family. Because of this, it was decided to make Nalin Soren a candidate in place of Hemant Soren.
Now, all eyes are on the candidate for the bye-election to be held on Gandey seat of Giridih, speculations are being made that Kalpana Soren can be the candidate from JMM from this seat.
