Questioning the longevity of projects adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments, state Congress unit chief Jitu Patwari, on Friday, said the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji had collapsed within a year.
"Whether it is the Morbi bridge in Gujarat, the Mahakal Lok in Madhya Pradesh, or the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, everything the BJP builds collapses within a year," said Patwari while addressing the media in Nagpur.
Claiming that the Mahayuti alliance was cloaked in secrecy, he questioned the practice of late-night machinations, while likening the ruling party in Maharashtra to thieves.
Expanding the ambit of his attack, Patwari said, "One of their alliance partners even revealed that Adani Ji was present in the meeting where they discussed the formation of the government."
He asserted that the government was designed to benefit an industrialist and not the common citizens of the state.Patwari further said, "Nitin Gadkari Ji has a respectable and simple personality, and when we listen to him, he talks about building roads. But when I rode around on a motorcycle in Nagpur, I saw nothing but dust.
It's fine for making reels, but the reality is different. Everywhere the roads are dug up, and during the rains, shops, houses, and petrol pumps were submerged."Patwari also questioned the changing BJP stance over Ajit Pawar, as the party had first accused him of involvement in a Rs 70,000 crore scam but later changed tack and appointed him as the deputy chief minister.
"When the BJP came to power in the country, they promised to double farmers' incomes, but the truth is that suicides among farmers in Vidarbha have doubled." He went on to attack the ruling alliance over what he described as continuing farmer suicides in the state.
Describing the election on November 20 as one between trust and betrayal, Patwari accused the ruling alliance leaders of hijacking the mandate for their government.Several top Congress leaders were present at the press conference, which concluded with party leaders seeking support for the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance in the state elections.
