Tuesday, 22 October 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

The newly formed Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM), led by Jairam Mahto, has suffered a significant blow before the upcoming elections. General Secretary Shankar Mahto, along with 12 senior leaders, has resigned from the party in protest against the selection of candidates.

Shankar Mahto spoke to media representatives at Gandhi Seva Sadan, expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of the party: “With the mission, I had joined the JLKM and became part of its movement, but that has changed now.”

He said that the party has made a candidate who did anti-party work in the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, there is no point in staying in the party now, so we are all resigning. There was resentment over Sindri candidate He mentioned that at least eight senior leaders had hoped to receive tickets for the assembly elections but were overlooked by the party’s supreme leader, Jairam Mahto.

Earlier, JLKM central president Jairam Mahto had announced to field Usha Devi from Sindri assembly constituency. Her name was released in the second list. Central organization general secretary Shankar Mahto had protested only after Jairam's press conference. Jairam Mahto was accused of discrimination in ticket distribution. Now Shankar Mahto has resigned from the party. Other party leaders from Sindri assembly constituency have also resigned.

Jharkhand Loktantrik Kranti Morcha (JLKM) will contest 81 assembly seats in the state. We have received 69 applications. The seven-member team of the parliamentary board has finalized the first list, has agreed on the names of candidates for six assembly constituencies. Jairam Mahto from Dumri, Rohit Kumar Das from Jamua, Motilal Sarkar from Rajmahal, Damyanti Munda from Tamar, Prem Mardi from Saraikela and Preeti Raj from Chhatarpur will contest.

Jairam said- He himself will contest from two seats. We are getting a lot of support from the public in Baghmara. Our home is in Tundi. We have also made preparations from Bermo and Mandu. However, the organization will decide which will be the second seat. He also told that many senior leaders of Nirsa and Sindri are in touch. They are ready to give ticket to Amit Mahto in Silli. He clarified that his party is not going to form an alliance with anyone. The organization is keeping an eye on every situation.

Jairam said- Infiltration is a big issue in Jharkhand. This has put our identity in danger. The people of Pahadia tribe are troubled, atrocities are being committed on the tribals. Our organization opposes infiltration. Displacement is considered a big problem in Dhanbad. Said that people are not getting employment under the local policy.

A concrete policy is necessary. The problem of unemployment is getting bigger. While discussing the Baghmara area of Dhanbad, he said that arbitrariness is happening there. 133 workers working in outsourcing are not getting their rights. We are ready for every fight for the rights of the workers.
