: A minor girl who was abducted from Tamil Nadu and rescued by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Keonjhar, was handed over to her mother on Saturday.

After her rescue from Tukuna village with the help of Anandpur police of Keonjhar district, the CWC sheltered her in an open centre.

“Upon receiving instruction from Mandakini Kar, Chairperson, State Child Protection Commission, the girl was rescued safely from Anandpur village area. After her rescue, we informed the CWC, Jharkhand. Upon the letter issued by the CWC, Jharkhand we handed over the girl to her mother as per the CWC rules and regulations,” said Chairman CWC Keonjhar Dr Bibhuti Dash.

Sources said that the girl along with her parents of Jharkhand State was working in a private firm in TN. In the month of December she was allegedly abducted by four persons. Later one of the abductors demanded Rs 10,000 from her mother over phone. Based on the phone number they identified the abductor from the record of a private firm and got his address.

Later, the police of TN informed the Odisha Government with the address. Besides that, the CWC of Jharkhand wrote a letter to the Keonjhar CWC for her rescue.

The girl was safely rescued, but police are yet to arrest the abductor and solve the motive behind the abduction drama.
