Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the Madhya Pradesh government will take steps to formulate positive arrangment based on the conclusions drawn from the two-day intellectual property seminar held in Indore.
He emphasized that there are numerous challenges in the field of intellectual property law in the future. In this context, organizing such a symposium by the High Court is a commendable initiative. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav assured that there will be no lack of coordination with the judiciary to ensure accessible and impartial justice for all. He was addressing the seminar on intellectual property rights at the Brilliant Convention Center in Indore.
The two-day seminar was attended by Supreme Court Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court Suresh Kumar Kait, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari, Advocate General Prashant Singh, Director of the Madhya Pradesh State Judicial Academy Krishnamurti Mishra, South Asia Representative Officer of INTA Gauri Kumar, and UK Intellectual Property's Deputy Director of International Policy Sarah Roberts Favel. The seminar was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the guests.
Yadav quoted "Yato Dharma: Tato Jaya:" and mentioned the justice system of Ujjain's King Vikramaditya, which has always been inspiring. The Chief Minister added that the determination of intellectual property will bring many challenges in the future, and such events will be useful in finding solutions to these challenges. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2016 policy for the promotion of justice. Dr. Yadav also highlighted how the judiciary remained functional even during the tough times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Justice Sushrut Dharmadhikari delivered the welcome address and provided an overview of the sessions that will take place over the two days. South Asia representative Gauri Kumar, sharing information about her organization, stated that there are organizations operating in around 187 countries working in the field of intellectual property. She emphasized that India plays a leading role in the protection of intellectual property.
Madhya Pradesh Advocate General Prashant Singh, in his address, mentioned that the judiciary is confidently progressing in the field of intellectual property protection. Sarah Roberts Favel, Deputy Director of the International Intellectual Property Office, dressed in Indian attire, presented vital information related to intellectual property rights. Administrative Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, discussed the strong aspects of intellectual property rights.
Supreme Court Justice Sharma and Justice Maheshwari, in their scholarly addresses, elaborated on the possibilities and challenges of intellectual property rights. Justice Maheshwari highlighted the strong functioning of Madhya Pradesh's judicial system, where the state government plays a crucial role. He expressed hope that the state government will continue providing resources to ensure the accessibility of justice, enabling the judiciary to carry out its duties with determination. Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Suresh Kumar Kait, explained the various aspects and objectives of the event.
The seminar is being organized by the Madhya Pradesh High Court and the Madhya Pradesh State Judicial Academy, in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom and the International Trademark Association. The event was also attended by Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsi Ram Silawat, Indore Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, and various legislators.
On Sunday, Supreme Court Justice Maheshwari will preside over the seminar as the chief guest. Judges from the Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Indore benches of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, along with judges from all districts of the state, are participating in the symposium.
