The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) unveiled its own version of an exit poll today, calling it the “people’s view,” and confidently projected a comfortable victory in the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections.
At a press conference held in Ranchi on Thursday, JMM General Secretary and Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya shared constituency-wise details, identifying 59 seats where the INDIA alliance candidates are certain to secure wins.
In addition to these 59 constituencies, Bhattacharya noted a fierce contest in 22 other seats, adding that the alliance is likely to clinch victories in several more constituencies as well.
Commenting on surveys circulating post-elections, Bhattacharya dismissed them as “sponsored” and claimed that, based on his own analysis, the BJP is unlikely to secure a single seat in 11 districts. He further stated that the remaining districts would see intense competition.
He specifically mentioned constituencies such as Rajmahal, Sarath, Barkatha, Barhi, Barkagaon, Simaria, Bagodar, Gandey, Giridih, Dumri, Gomia, Chandankiyari, Sindri, Nirsa, Ghatshila, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur, and Saraikela as strongholds where INDIA alliance candidates are expected to emerge victorious.
Bhattacharya also criticized the proliferation of surveys, suggesting that some are designed to influence the betting market rather than reflect voter sentiment.
The JMM leader expressed disappointment with urban voters, highlighting a decline in voter turnout in cities compared to rural areas.
“Urban voters have higher expectations than their rural counterparts, but when it comes time to vote, they vanish. This is concerning. Intellectuals, who often engage in political discussions, are ironically the ones who fail to cast their votes,” he remarked.
