Monday, 22 July 2024 | Staff Reporter | bhopal

In Bhopal, it has been raining intermittently and sometimes heavily since Sunday morning. Heavy rain started at 3:30 pm, which continued for about an hour which drenched the entire city.

Hundreds of people reached Boat Club and Lake View to enjoy the changed weather. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain for the next 4 days.

The water level of Upper Lake has reached 1661.35 feet. Now it is only 5.45 feet below the full tank mark. On Sunday, the Kolans river is flowing 1 feet above its level.

During the rain, lightning struck a building in Sanjeev Nagar's Atal Complex located on Jail Road. This caused cracks in the upper part of the building. Due to lightning in the L-1 part, a big hole was created in the upper part of the building. Although there has been no loss of life, a major accident was averted.

In the last 24 hours, Bhopal received 13.2 mm i.e., more than half an inch of rain. Including this, till now 422 mm i.e., 16.61 inches of rain has occurred. This is 40 percent of the total rainfall of the season.

The water level of Upper Lake is continuously increasing. Actually, good water is falling in the catchment area of Bada Talab and Kolans river. Due to heavy rains in Sehore district, water reaches Kolans river. Then it comes to Bada Talab. In such a situation, the level of the pond is increasing. Water has also increased in Kolar, Kaliyasot and Kerwa Dam.

The average rainfall in Bhopal in the month of July is 367.7 mm i.e. 14.4 inches. More than 7 and a half inches of water has fallen in Bhopal from 1 to 20 July.

Now about 7 inches more water is needed to complete the quota of July. Overall 16.6 inches of water has fallen this season.

Meteorologists say that there is a trend of heavy rain in the second fortnight of July. This time also the weather is similar. It has been raining continuously since July 15. Now since there is a strong system, the period of heavy rain will continue.
