Incessant heavy rains disrupt railway traffic for 3 hours

Train traffic was disrupted for over 3 hours after soil and gravel of an under construction over bridge came over railway track on the Bina-Sagar-Katni railway track near Girwar railway station on Tuesday due to heavy rainfall.

Kamayani Express, Bilaspur Express, Rajrani Express trains remained affected till the debris was removed.

Work on the third line and over bridge is going on near Girwar in Sagar. Due to rain, the soil lying next to the track came on both the up and down tracks.

Six inches of rainfall was recorded in 3 hours on Tuesday morning in Mungawali of Ashoknagar. Schools, houses and shops were flooded. The bridge of National Highway-346 was submerged. Water filled up to 400 feet on both sides. On the other hand, a young man was swept away in the drain along with his bike in Seoni. Police and SDRF team are searching for him.

The body of Hariom Thakur, who was swept away in the causeway of Sialwada Tola Nayakheda village of Raisen on Monday night, could be retrieved on Tuesday afternoon. The bodies of the couple Jahgia and Phudli who were washed away in the drain in Guliawad Falia Mathwad of Alirajpur were also found on Tuesday.

Heavy rain continued in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. More than 1 inch of rainfall was reported in Satna. Jabalpur-Khajuraho received 45 inches of rain. Dhar, Bhopal, Betul, Guna, Gwalior, Indore, Khandwa, Shivpuri, Ujjain, Damoh, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Naugaon, Rewa, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Umaria and Malajkhand of Balaghat district also received light rain.

A strong rain system will remain active in the state for the next two days. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 27 districts including Jabalpur and Gwalior. So far an average of 12.9 inches of water has fallen in the state. This is 35 percent of the season's rain.

The western part- Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior-Chambal divisions have received 5 percent more rain than the average, while the eastern part- Rewa, Sagar, Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions have received 17 percent less rain.

However, for the last 3 days, heavy rain has been falling in the districts of these divisions as well. The rainfall figures are continuously increasing.
