Inter School Medley Competition at ILCC

An Inter School Medley Competition for Classes 6-8 was held at The International Library and Cultural Center on Wednesday. The Competition was open to classes 6-8.  The participants were required to present an assortment of Hindi film songs which they had put together themselves. The participants were talented and well trained and their mashups were original and interesting. Some were based on ragas like Megh Malhar and Nand. Accompaniments permitted were harmonium, tabla, guitar, dholak, violin etc. The program was conducted by the Cultural Secretary of ILCC Rekha Mishra. Cultural Committee member and Librarian Nivedita Sharma was also present. The Judges were Sharmishtha Majumdar , Dr. Mrinalini Akhouri and Anchala Singh. The first prize was awarded to Sharda Global School, while the second and third prizes were given to Surendranath Centenary School and Sachidanand Gyan Bharti Model School respectively.

 

DWA to hold Fair on July 26-27

 

The Doctors' Wives Association is organising a Mela in the I M A Hall on 26th and 27th of July 2024 between 10 am to 8 pm. DWA is a non-profit organisation, which has been successfully organising the Mela for the last two years. The proceeds are donated to the Prime Minister's Cares Fund for two consecutive years. This time also the proceeds will be donated for social welfare.Very attractive stalls of ethnic and modern outfits, decorative items, jewellery along with sumptuous food items are being put up. Under the guidance and leadership of the Chairperson Vinita Sharan, Founder cum Co-Chairperson Jhooma Sarkar, President Shreela Choudhary, Secretary Amrita Baidya, Treasurer Monideepa Dasgupta along with the Executive Committee, the active members of DWA are looking forward to its grand success this year too.

 

Kushwaha Mahasabha meet in Ranchi

A one-day meeting was organized at Dhurwa Ranchi regarding the expansion and strengthening of the Jharkhand state organization of All India Kushwaha Mahasabha. In this meeting, National President Kushwaha Rakesh Mahato, National Principal General Secretary Praveen Singh Kushwaha, National Treasurer Lokman Kushwaha, Youth National President Dr. Prem Maurya, State General Secretary Lalit Mahato, State President Abhay Kumar Mehta were present as the chief guests. The members decided that in Jharkhand, the Kushwaha community will unite in the upcoming elections and take proper participation from all political parties. He said that today's meeting includes people from Kushwaha, Shakya, Maurya, Saini, Koiri, Kachhi, Dangi, Murai, Mali, Patel, Kalita community. The central government is requested to give a share in politics to the Kushwaha community by conducting caste census at the national level in the country.

Police seize Ganja worth Rs 2 crore

Police seized Ganja worth Rs 2 crore going from Ranchi to Hazaribagh in Ramgarh and arrested on eperson. In this regard, the police have informed that about 490 kg of ganja worth about Rs 2 crore has been seized from a truck in Ramgarh district and one person has been arrested. Ramgarh SP Ajay Kumar told media persons that the vehicle with Uttar Pradesh registration number was going from Ranchi to Hazaribagh late on Tuesday night. During this time it was stopped near Kuju police post. He said that the police searched the truck and recovered the narcotic substance. Along with this, the driver Tulsi Yadav, aged 55 years was arrested.
