Hry CM celebrated Diwali with elderly at Ladwa old age home
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini celebrated Diwali with the elderly and children by visiting Baba Bansivala Vridha Ashram and Sakshi Balkunj Ashram in Ladwa, Kurukshetra. He distributed sweets, shawls, and fruit baskets, wishing everyone a Happy Diwali. Saini began his visit at Baba Bansivala Vridha Ashram, where he offered his respects. Speaking to the elderly, he expressed his joy in being with them and mentioned that he had come to seek their blessings. On this occasion, he inquired about the accommodation and food arrangements for the elderly residents. During this interaction, some elderly individuals requested the Chief Minister's assistance in obtaining old age pensions and Ayushman cards. In response, he directed the Deputy Commissioner, who was present, to take immediate action to address these issues. After this, the Chief Minister visited Sakshi Balkunj Ashram in Ladwa, where he extended his blessings to the children living there and wished them a Happy Diwali. He encouraged the children to study with dedication and hard work, emphasizing that goals can only be achieved through perseverance.
57 fire accidents in Gurugram on Diwali
Gurugram: The Gurugram Fire Department registered 57 fire-related incidents during Diwali as the city residents burst firecrackers from 6 pm till late at night, officials at the Gurugram Fire Service said on Friday. The majority of the cases were addressed quickly and there were no reports of any casualties so far, they added. Last year, the Fire department received 11 fire and emergency calls. "A total of 57 calls related to fire incidents were received in Gurugram from 4:33 p.m. on Thursday to 12:21 a.m. on Friday during the Diwali celebration. All the reported incidents were minor as we barely use four or five fire tenders in any incidents," a fire official told.
Chd Fire Dept records 20 emergency calls on Diwali
Chandigarh: The Fire & Rescue Services Department, MC, Chandigarh has received 20 emergency calls on Diwali night, marking the lowest number of incidents in the last three years. Four minor injuries were reported, said the MC official. In his statement, MC Commissioner Amit Kumar said that there was no major fire incident reported as the MC had meticulously devised a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety and security of the city.
Gang involved in illegal money transfers abroad busted in Hry
Chandigarh: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on Friday said that the State Crime Branch has cracked down on a major organized crime network involved in sending black money abroad through fake companies. The investigation revealed that the accused had illegally transferred approximately Rs 700 crore to foreign bank accounts under the guise of business transactions. So far, seven people have been arrested, with charge sheets filed against five other suspects in court. The police first received a complaint on March 18, 2024, regarding suspicious financial transactions. Acting on the complaint, He formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Additional Director General of Police, State Crime Branch, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, Nitish Aggarwal. During the investigation, it was uncovered that the accused had systematically created fake companies under the names of "dummy directors" to carry out illegal transactions. These fake directors opened bank accounts with the cooperation of bank officials, completing the necessary e-KYC formalities, while the accused retained control over these accounts, including ATM cards, net banking credentials, and registered mobile SIMs. The companies, falsely registered in the names of these dummies, operated imports and exports through Gujarat and Mumbai ports, claiming business transactions with foreign companies. By inflating the prices on invoices far beyond market rates, the accused funneled large amounts of money abroad and earned hefty commissions on each dollar transferred illegally, he added.
PGIMER reports 21 eye injuries on Diwali
Chandigarh: A total of 21 patients came to the Advanced Eye Centre of PGIMER, Chandigarh with alleged history of fire crackers injuries in the last 48 hours on Diwali. There were 16 males and 5 females. 12 of the 21 patients (57 per cent) were children (less than 14 years of age) including the youngest being a 3 years old female child. There were eight patients from tricity (all from Chandigarh). The remaining 13 patients were from the neighbouring States of Punjab (4), Haryana (4), Himachal Pradesh (1), UP (1) , Rajasthan (1), said the PGIMER official in its statement. He said that the Advanced Eye Centre, with round-the-clock staffing of doctors, nurses, and allied personnel, treated 21 cases of eye injuries resulting from firecracker incidents. PGIMER’s Trauma Centre handled 5 burn cases related to Diwali celebrations. Among these, an 18-month-old boy suffered 30 percent burns on his right side, and a 16-year-old girl sustained 50-55 per cent burns, predominantly on her upper body. Both have been stabilized and are now in the Burn ICU for continued management, while the other three cases are under care at the ATC OPD and being managed accordingly for the injuries suffered.

Anurag Rastogi assumes charge as Chief Secretary
Chandigarh: Anurag Rastogi, an officer of the 1990 batch of the Indian Administrative Service, on Friday assumed charge as the new Chief Secretary of Haryana. As per the orders issued by the government, Vivek Joshi, an officer of the 1989 batch of the IAS, will be the Chief Secretary of Haryana. Till he assumes charge, Rastogi has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of Haryana.
