In a significant boost to the tourism sector, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday laid the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art tourism complex in Auhar in Bilaspur district. The ambitious project, costing Rs 33.75 crores, is set to transform the region into a premier tourist destination with its modern facilities and attractions. The complex is slated for completion within two years.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of quality construction and outlined the features of the new complex. “The hotel block will include a reception-cum-waiting area, a 60-seater restaurant, a 30-seater conference room, a 400-seater Dham hall, a 300-seater banquet hall, restrooms, a kitchen, and toilets,” he said. Additionally, the hotel will offer 40 guest rooms. The food court, designed to accommodate 214 people, will feature eight stalls, a pickup area, common restrooms, a kid’s play area, and a green space.

The recreational zone will enhance the visitor experience with a swimming pool, a gym and spa, a pantry, a store, a back office, and toilets on the ground floor. The first floor will host an indoor games room for pool, a lobby area, four massage rooms, and additional restrooms. The complex will also include a proposed sewage treatment plant (STP) with a capacity of 50 KLD, green grassing, royal palm trees, and a sprinkler system.

“The new complex will epitomize luxury and cater to tourists with its state-of-the-art facilities,” said Chief Minister. He directed the integration of the complex with water sports activities at Gobind Sagar Lake, including speed boats and sailing boats, to enhance the visitor experience and attract more tourists to the area.

The Chief Minister also announced plans for the second phase of the complex, which will be constructed on the opposite side of the road. “The second phase will feature an amusement park for children, a food court, and other essential amenities, with the entire project costing Rs 150 crore,” he revealed.

At the same time, he highlighted the government’s commitment to improve infrastructure and provide world-class facilities for tourists. He stressed the importance of tourism in strengthening the state's economy and providing significant employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth. “The government is making all-out efforts to make Himachal Pradesh the top tourism destination, leaving no stone unturned in its endeavours,” he added.
