Love marriage resulted in a clash between two families leading to death of three persons, including the groom, injuries to half a dozen others.
The sensational incident took place in Phulat village under Ratanpuri police station in Khatauli, Meerut, late on Tuesday night.
Reports said that Ankit of village Phulat had lured the daughter of a man from the village about eight months ago. Facing opposition from the girl’s family, both of the lovers eloped and got married in the court, due to which a dispute started between the two families. The family members of Ankit, however, accepted the marriage and decided to arrange a party to formally announce the wedding of their son. On Tuesday evening, a wedding party was going on in Ankit’s village, in which his family members and several other guests and villagers were present.
The situation took a bloody turn when the girl’s brother came to know about this and he along with other family members reached the venue and created a ruckus. The girl’s brother suddenly took out a pistol and fired at Ankit and shot him dead. The death of Ankit agitated his family members and later firing took place between the two sides with villagers also attacking the opponents with sticks and rods.
In the clash, the girl’s father Harimohan, her brothers Rahul and Rohit were seriously injured. Some villagers including Ankit’s brother Babloo were also injured.
All the injured were taken to the government where Rohit and Rahul were pronounced dead upon arrival.
Giving information about the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police Abhishek Singh said that there was a dispute in Phulat village due to old enmity in which three people died due to bullet injuries and four were injured.
“Three people have been detained by the police and a case has been registered in connection with the incident. The matter is being investigated and strict action will be taken against all those who were involved in the clash,” Singh added.
Meanwhile, four people, including a child, were killed when a speeding motorcycle collided with the road divider on the Bundelkhand Expressway in Banda district.
The accident took place on Wednesday morning.
A woman who was seriously was rushed to the hospital where she also died.
All four motorcycle riders were from the same family of Oran village under Bisanda police station. They were returning from the house of a relative living in a village in Kotwali area in the rural areas of the district when the accident happened.
