Govt to take legal recourse to recover Rs 1.36 lakh Cr dues from Centre

Friday, 29 November 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Soon after taking oath as Chief Minister, Hemant Soren convened the first Cabinet meeting on Thursday, where it was decided that the State Government will take legal recourse to recover Rs 1,36,000 core dues from the Centre/Central Government PSUs.

On earlier occasions too CM has raised the demand for release of pending dues from Centre. On September this year, in the run-up to Assembly election CM Soren wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the Central Government to release dues to the tune of Rs 1,36,042 crores pending as of March 2022 payable to the State exchequer from the coal companies operating in Jharkhand.

The development assumes significance as the ruling JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government has been pursuing this issue ever since it came to power in 2019.

Meanwhile in other cabinet decisions, Chief Minister Hemant Soren is going to give a great gift to the women of Jharkhand as soon as he takes oath for the fourth consecutive time. With the formation of the new government of Hemant Soren, in the month of December, the first installment of Rs 2500 instead of Rs 1000 under the Maiya Samman Yojana and the fifth installment under the scheme will go to the accounts of women. The state government had took the decision in the cabinet meeting today. In the month of November, an amount of Rs 1000 was sent to everyone's account. Now the Social Welfare Department is preparing to send Rs 2500.

The process of registration under the Maiya Samman Yojana is also going on continuously. In such a situation, the installment of the increased amount under the Maiya Samman Yojana is expected to go to the accounts of the beneficiaries by December 11. The department is preparing for this. At the same time, under the ongoing registration, it is believed that more than 57 lakh women can be beneficiaries.

Just before the implementation of the code of conduct, in the cabinet meeting, the head of the Mayya Samman Yojana was approved to increase the amount to Rs 2500. In which it was said that from the month of December, instead of 1000, now 2500-2500 hundred rupees will be sent to the account of every woman. By the month of November, the fourth installment of Rs 1000 had been paid under the Mayya Samman Yojana. The Maiya Samman Yojana played a key role in the return of the Hemant Soren government in State.
Also the Hemant Soren government approved the convening of a special session of the Legislative Assembly in the first cabinet on Thursday. The special session of the Legislative Assembly will run from December 9 to December 12. In this session, CM Hemant Soren will get the vote of confidence. Stephen Marandi has been made the Protem Speaker for the special session.
