A meeting of the District Grievance Redressal Committee under the Health Department was conducted at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal. The meeting focused on reviewing treatment facilities and payment processes under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and issuing necessary guidelines for improving healthcare services in the district.
The facilities and payment issues in eight private hospitals, nursing homes, and government health centers, including the Sub-Divisional Hospital Ghatshila and CHC Dumria, were discussed in detail. Specific attention was given to the challenges caused by uploading incorrect beneficiary documents under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Hospital representatives acknowledged that such errors occurred due to human mistakes and assured they were being addressed. Ananya Mittal directed the Civil Surgeon to verify documents and expedite the payment process after necessary investigations.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized using Ayushman Bharat funds to secure the services of specialist doctors in government hospitals. He instructed the preparation of an action plan to hire at least two specialist doctors for each Sub-Divisional Hospital and Community Health Centre (CHC) by January 15. This step aims to reduce referrals and enhance healthcare delivery at the district level.
Addressing the absence of Community Health Officers (CHO) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) at health sub-centers during inspections, Mittal issued strict directives to all Medical Officers In-Charge (MOICs). He emphasized that health sub-centers are crucial for providing primary healthcare in rural areas and instructed MOICs to ensure the presence of CHOs and ANMs.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need for better maintenance of government hospitals, focusing on cleanliness, drinking water, sanitation, and proper upkeep of medical equipment. He instructed officials to create a conducive environment for patients and address basic infrastructure needs sensitively.
The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, Dr. Ranjit Panda, all MOICs, and representatives from private hospitals and nursing homes, including Ganga Memorial Hospital and Research Centre, Mercy Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Lakshmi Nursing Home, Sai Poly Clinic and Nursing Home, ASG Eye Hospital, Purnima Netralaya, and Singh Nursing Home Ghatshila.
The session concluded with clear directives for enhancing healthcare quality and ensuring the effective implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme across the district.
