Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, on Thursday, issued a directive to give priority in Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana Rural to those having more than one disabled person in a family.

It may be mentioned that during the tour programmes and Janata Darshan of the deputy chief minister, the demands of providing permanent housing were often being made by the disabled persons. Taking cognisance of it, Maurya issued directives in this regard on Thursday.

An official communiqué released on Thursday also confirmed that a big number of houses were already allotted to disabled persons under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme.

It is also noteworthy that for the implementation of Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Rural, government orders were issued from time to time for the convenience and selection of the beneficiaries. Certain classes, communities, castes, tribes have been included in various priority categories of eligibility determined under the scheme.

The communiqué said that in relation to inclusion of destitute women (age 18 years to 40 years), disabled persons and widows in the priority category of eligibility prescribed in the government order issued for Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural), after due consideration it has been decided to add the following provisions.

“If there is more than one disabled person in a family, then such family will be given preference under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural). Apart from this, if there are more eligible disabled people than the target allotted to the concerned district, then the poorest disabled person will be given priority by the district administration. Necessary mandate in this regard has been issued by the Uttar Pradesh Rural Development department. Rural Development Commissioner GS Priyadarshi has given instructions to all officials concerned to ensure compliance with the government order in letter and spirit.
