A state-of-the-art ERCP Center, equipped with cutting-edge facilities for both Pediatric Endoscopy and General Endoscopy was inaugurated on 24.07.2024 by the Executive Director, Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh, in a ceremony held at AIIMS Bhopal.
Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh highlighted the significance of the new pediatric endoscopy services, emphasizing their role in detecting and treating diseases related to the esophagus, stomach, and small intestine in children. He remarked, "This type of facility is generally not easily available, and its introduction at AIIMS Bhopal will greatly enhance our ability to provide specialized care for our young patients."
The ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) Center will significantly improve the treatment of bile and pancreatic duct disorders. This advanced procedure is crucial for diagnosing and treating conditions that were previously challenging to manage.
The newly inaugurated center will offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services, catering to both pediatric and cancer patients. These services are instrumental in addressing a variety of medical conditions, such as stopping bleeding in patients with liver and ulcer diseases and performing stenting procedures in cancer patients.
Dr. Piyush Pathak, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology, shared insights into the department's capabilities, stating, "We have a total of 8 endoscopes, which allow us to perform approximately 60 endoscopies every week. Each machine costs around Rs. 1.20 crore, reflecting our commitment to utilizing the best technology available."
Executive Director Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh expressed his confidence in the new facilities, stating, "With the arrival of these advanced endoscopes, we are poised to provide even better health services to the people of Bhopal and the surrounding regions."
