In a step to acknowledge the dedication of men who risk their lives to facilitate electricity to our homes, industries or any facilities, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) in collaboration with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL) would be honouring and felicitating ‘Linesmen’ for their tireless efforts in ensuring seamless and round-the-clock electricity.
To be celebrated ‘Linesman Diwas’ a special event has been planned for March 4 which will bring together representatives of several power distribution companies from across the country at one place. This will be fourth anniversary year of Lineman Diwas which was started in peak of pandemic.
It is estimated that the country has more than 50,000 linemen who work tirelessly across more than 100 power distribution companies. From attending emergency calls for repairing and maintenance of the power line, to providing new connections etc, the frontline warriors perform every duty meticulously.
The occasion promises to be a pan-India affair, with Discoms from Delhi, Gujarat, Odisha, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh showcasing their commitment to honoring their linemen.
“As we celebrate the fourth edition of Lineman Diwas, we honor the dedication and resilience of these linemen, whose dedication ensures that we get uninterrupted power supply, even in challenging situations, natural calamities and unpredictable weather conditions. Over the past three years, this day has gained national importance, with participation from more and more transcos and discoms across the country,” said Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd.
During the programme, several linesmen will be recognized and honored for their exemplary contributions.
“The theme, "Seva, Suraksha, Swabhiman", perfectly captures the dedication, safety, and self-reliance of these individuals who work day and night to ensure 24*7 electricity supply,” said a CEA official for the occasion.
Their meticulous work makes them the unsung heroes and the true backbone of power distribution. Their contributions are invaluable, yet often overlooked, said spokesman of a discom.
