Educational institutions need to nurture youth: Governor

Governor Mangubhai Patel said that all educational institutions have responsibility to nourish new generation, which could discharge its responsibilities and work for the underprivileged bringing about radical changes in the society. He was addressing the Central Zone Vice Chancellors' Conference organized on the implementation of National Education Policy-2020 by the Vikram University in Ujjain.

Stressing on promoting skill development among the youth the Governor said that employment opportunities and students should acquire knowledge in the field of their choice. Governor Patel said that National Education Policy-2020 encompasses art, science, technology, digital technology, culture etc. and opens doors to immense possibilities.

Governor Patel desired Vice Chancellors to give proper guidance to students. Vice Chancellors, academicians and professors of more than 270 government and non-government universities of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand participated in the Central Zone Vice Chancellors’ Conference. The conference reviewed and discussed the challenges of implementation of the National Education Policy-2020.

UGC Chairman M. Jagdish Kumar said that the New Education Policy-2020 is bringing transformational changes in Indian education system. Every possible effort is being made to disseminate the details of the policy among various stakeholders and ensure its implementation by higher educational institutions. The university courses include a credit framework, simultaneous study of two academic programmes, dual education system, offering dual degree programmes and academic exchange programmes between Indian and foreign higher education institutions.

Highlighting the activities of Vikram University, Vice Chancellor of Vikram University, Akhilesh Kumar Pandey said that 280 courses are currently being conducted in the university. Courses in multipurpose research, forensic science, digital technology are also included in it. The objective of the university is to develop skill development in the students and make them employable. Currently there are 35 model patents. He said that various dimensions of the Gita have also been included in the courses. Children from 25 states are studying in the university. He said that the Central Zone Vice Chancellors Conference will help in research and practice and will open new dimensions in the field of education.

Earlier, a short film based on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision on National Education Policy-2020 was also screened. Registrar Shailendra Kumar Sharma conducted the programme and Registrar Anil Sharma proposed the vote of thanks. University professors and students were present in the programme.
