In a remarkable achievement, Dr Aadesh Shrivastava, Additional Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at AIIMS Bhopal, recently participated as faculty and innovator at the 1st Yasargil Microneurosurgery Congress held in Istanbul, Turkey, from June 4th to 7th, 2024. The congress saw the participation of over 600 renowned neurosurgeons from around the globe.
Dr. Shrivastava presented a pioneering technique developed at AIIMS Bhopal - "Keyhole Microsurgery without Neuro Navigation." Traditional brain surgery often requires large incisions and results in prolonged recovery times. However, Dr. Shrivastava's keyhole microsurgery approach allows for brain surgery through a smaller incision, significantly reducing recovery time and surgical impact.
This technique promises high quality neurosurgical outcomes even in resource constrained settings and poorly equipped centers across the globe. Dr. Shrivastava navigated the surgical process without the aid of a neuro navigation machine, instead utilizing 3D virtual reality and available resources to accurately locate and remove brain tumors. This innovative technique received widespread acclaim from the global neurosurgical community present at the congress.
Professor (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Aadesh Shrivastava for this outstanding achievement, acknowledging his contribution to advancing neurosurgical practices and bringing international recognition to AIIMS Bhopal.
"Dr. Shrivastava's innovative approach exemplifies the high standard of academic and clinical excellence we strive for at AIIMS Bhopal," stated Professor Singh. "His success at the Yasargil Microneurosurgery Congress underscores our commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in medical education and practice."
